Video Settings and "Test Your Speed"

What is "Set Video Speed?"

To provide you with the best VRS experience possible, we have optimized our video settings according to your speed. Click on "Test Your Speed" to find out what your speed is.

What is "Test Your Speed?"

It is a test that measures how fast your internet connection can send out information from your computer or webcam. The information your computer sends can be data that you type (such as in the chat box), or the video stream from your webcam that the interpreter sees. The test allows you to select the setting that will give you the best possible picture for your VRS calls.

What would happen if I select the "high" speed setting while my Video Speed test says I should select "medium?"

The VSoft picture will be choppy. This is because we have programmed VSoft to produce the best quality picture at each individual speed. If you set VSoft at a setting that doesn't match your computer's upstream speed, it will not perform at the optimum level.

How can I improve my speed immediately?

There are a few ways to do this. To optimize your speed, you can close all of the windows currently open on your computer screen except for the Video Speed test window. You can also run the defragmentation program on your hard drive and this should improve your speed.

For more information on how to improve your speed, visit www.speedguide.net. Most of the time, you will need to purchase a higher speed connection from your internet service provider (ISP).
